Our next publication: "The Wisdom of Manjusri"
This book will feature a revised and critical translation of the root verses of the Manjusri Nama Samgti, the Jampal Tsen Jod (‘jam dpal mtshan brjod), an important sutra of the Buddha that is also a bridge to the main tantras in the Buddhist canon (Ka Gyur), together with translations of three original, scholarly commentaries on the root verses from the Nyingma tradition of Tibet found in the Ten Gyur: the long, early period commentary of Vimalamitra; the medium length 11th century commentary of Rongzompa; and the commentary by Garab Dorje, the only work by this early Nyingma master that appears in the Ten Gyur.
The book will also reference a recent publication from Tibet containing extensive notes, composed by a Khenpo from Dzogchen Monastery who was the main disciple of the great 5th Dzogchen Rinpoche, on the words of Vimalamitra’s commentary, further explaining much of their meaning.
The book should be more than 300 pages in length, exclusive of front and back end materials. Work is about 30% complete on this book. Funding is needed for all aspects of its completion, including supporting the scholarly work, the book production, and its publication and distribution. $12,000 total is sought to complete all phases of the project by end of 2011.
Please help us complete this important book, which explains an enormous amount about both sutra and tantra. The root text itself is one of the most beautiful and poetic writings from the Buddhist tradition, and thus an important but still largely unknown contribution to world culture and literature.
